Nanometer thin photovoltaics based on plasmonically enhanced van der Waals heterostructures
PV-Waals
This project is aimed at developing new photovoltaic devices based on two-dimensional crystal van der Waals heterostructures (vdWhs) in which efficient light capture is achieved using film-coupled plasmonic nanoparticles. Comprising only few atomic layers, vdWhs photovoltaics represent the ultimate limit of thin-film solar cells which offer exciting prospects for fundamental research on mechanisms of energy conversion involving electromagnetic radiation.
